Miss Afrique Montreal 2012 (recap)
#MAM2012

On Saturday February 11th 2012, was the “Miss Afrique Montreal” beauty pageant election. I was honored to witness an amazing event as a member of the jury and as a partner. The well deserved crowned “Queen, Salematou of Guinea” is taking her duty as ambassador of “The Nakande’s Project” for one year starting today Monday February 14th 2012.

The show started with an opening dance from all the “MISSES” inspired by “America’s Best Dance Crew winner Jabbawockeez”. It was a cute and well presented performance. The biggest highlight of the night in my opinion was “ Queen Salematou of Guinea’s ” powerful poem delivery on “The Renaissance of Africa” ! A poem spreading hope about the future of the Continent.

Eric M’boua was the host of this ceremony and I must say that I was very much impressed. He managed to keep a crowd of 800 Africans (and we all know how tough we can be sometimes) entertained all the way until the end. The most memorable moment of his performance was the “Pil ou Face sequence” that he topped with a Michael Jackson move at the end #EPIC.

My second biggest highlight of the night was when “Patricia of Burundi” brought out during her talent show “Burundian Drummers and Dancers” who graced the stage with a performance like nothing I’ve ever seen. It was entertaining, grandiose, energetic, fun, loud, rhythmic and overall a beautiful representation of the Burundian culture.

The show was a big success to me as it showed our beloved Continent and it’s strong and beautiful young women on a positive light. We had the opportunity to travel with each and every one of the misses and discover traditions from a great variety of African countries.

I’m very happy to have been part of such an experience.
I will definitely see you next year but until then, check out the evolution of the work that “Miss Afrique Montreal” will be doing as the ambassador of “The Nakande’s Project” in Montreal on www.thenakandesproject.org.

MISSION = LOOSING 10 LBS | Recipe: GINGER PASTA with TUNA
Hello Boys and Girls, hope your week has started with lots positivity. I’m on a mission to loose 10 pounds once and for all! I’ve been very lazy lately with the whole going to the Gym concept that I honestly cannot stand but now I don’t have a choice. Those extra pounds have to go and this body needs to be toned…
So because of this new year resolution I decided to suck it up and get this thing going. Today is the preparation phase that will last until tomorrow morning because that’s when I start kicking butts :-) ! I did my turbo fire routine this morning and had to drag my girl Olivia into it. It’s always easier when you’re not alone. Before exercising I ate a cup of “BOUILLIE DE MIL” in french I’m sorry couldn’t find the name in english. I love that stuf and it gives me a lot of energy.
Click here to find out more (in french) about le MIL…
For lunch I had a dish that a friend made for me last month when I was in Paris. It’s very simple, fast, low in calories and tasty.
GINGER PASTA with TUNA

Ingredients:
Whole wheat pasta
Onions
Ginger powder (to taste)
Garlic (to taste)
Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper
Fresh Basil (if you can)
Tuna in water
- Cook your pasta in salted boiling water.
-While your pasta is cooking, cut 1/3 of your onion in small dice and put them in a large bowl. Add in the ginger powder to taste, the crushed garlic to taste, salt & pepper, a table spoon of Olive oil and the tuna drained. Mix all the ingredients together.
-Serve the pasta in a plate, add the garniture on top and sprinkle with finely chopped fresh basil leaves if you can or a little bit of dry basil.
Voila
Bon Appétit

It’s because of this that I have a purpose in life… Children should not be going through this. Fight for your spot, when you get there turn around and give a helping hand. ( I ) cannot save the world but I’m sure that all together we should be able to shake things up!
